FRANCES BEAN COMPARES NIRVANA’S KURT COBAIN TO THE BEATLES’ JOHN LENNON
-Kurt Cobain’s daughter Frances Bean Cobain spoke in an interview with RuPaul during the recent episode of “What’s the Tee?” podcast.
She compared her father to Elvis Presley and John Lennon from The Beatles. You can read the conversation below (Transcribed by Alternative Nation).
Michelle said:
“There are a lot of celebrity kids out there, we got a lot. We have ones on the level of Lisa Marie Presley and Madonna’s kids but I was just sitting here listening to you talk; there is a different obsession with Kurt Cobain. Courtney as well, but Kurt was a God in the same way that Elvis was in many levels, I can imagine for Lisa…”
Frances chimed in:
“Or like John Lennon.”
Michelle added:
“Or like, John Lennon but it’s a different time you see because your generation and you’re much younger than those kids is more obsessive. I can’t even imagine the energy thrown onto you from Kurt and Courtney’s fans.”
Frances said:
- “I think there’s a desperate need for a lot of that fanbase to project onto me that I am the second female coming of Kurt. Like, that is a really big need that needs to be fulfilled and people are going to project whatever they want onto me but that doesn’t mean I have to abide by it at all.”
Michelle said:
“True, that’s so smart.”
Frances continued:
“So if people need that outlet in order to look at my music and my art and go “it’s just like your dad,” that’s OK. If that’s the association they make, that’s a pretty damn good association, there are worse things to be called.”
RuPaul:
“Sure.”
Frances:
“The reality is though that the people who give my art, music or voice a chance, I think what keeps people interested is it’s not replicating somebody else’s thing. Like some people like to talk about “their brand”, right? My brand is authenticity. That is what I’m trying to provide in the service of this world because it’s so very lacking in the age of the Kardashian.
And it’s fine, [Kim Kardashian and her family] fill that very specific role for a reason but everything is so saturated, filtered, conceived and what people are really thirsty for, I think, in an artistic way is being able to see people for who they are and all of the messy bits involved.”(by https://metalheadzone.com/).-
